All about you!
Most people have the same reason for getting healthy: they were unhealthy! But so many people don't want to admit that the "turning point" that so many people have to go through is when they find themselves in a situation where they can no longer allow themselves to be. But in reality, it is the fact that they need to be selfish. Many people, especially parents, will try to say that they are getting healthy and losing weight for their children, significant other or family. But the truth is that they just need to be open and honest internally and admit that they need to be selfish. You don't change your entire life for other people. This is something that needs to be just for you. If you die today because of something that could have been prevented by losing weight, your children, family and friends will learn to adjust to living without you. I know that this is not a concept that anyone really wants to admit or accept, but it is true. Yes, they will keep you in their thoughts. Congrats. But the truth of the matter is that you want to get healthy so that you can be around for the fun times, weddings and graduations. When you get down to the real grit of the issue, you are selfish.

And the best part is that it's okay! Yes! It is totally okay to be selfish about this! You need to be selfish sometimes. If you get healthy, you can be around for the fun times, weddings and graduations. The journey you have to go through to get healthy is one that you will be alone in at many points. You will not always have someone to talk to or work out with. No one can make you work out. No one can make you eat a healthy diet. No one can make you get healthy. You are the key element to everything. Even as a personal trainer, I can not do everything for you. I am your guide on your journey to health but I cannot make you show up. I will not feed you every meal. You have the power to be a healthy person and you are the one who has to choose to start. When is your start day?
